As the year draws to a close, it has been inspiring – particularly as a new member of staff at Tintern – to witness the strength, generosity and spirit of our Alumni community in action. Whether reconnecting at reunions, mentoring current students, sharing stories or returning to campus after many years, our Alumni have helped make 2025 a year defined by genuine connection.
One of the most meaningful moments was celebrating the Class of 2025 as they completed their school journey and stepped into the Alumni community. Their enthusiasm, gratitude and sense of belonging were unmistakable at both our Valedictory Dinner and Celebration Evening, and we are delighted to welcome them as the newest members of our Alumni community.
This year also showcased the many ways Alumni continue to enrich the life of the School. From insightful contributions at Careers Night and generous Giving Day donations, to the ongoing success of our Alumni in Profile series and the growing enthusiasm around the 150th Anniversary Stories Project, your involvement continues to shape the experiences of current students and preserve Tintern’s collective memory.
Reunions brought together year groups from across the decades – including the Classes of 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010 – creating moments of nostalgia, reconnection and celebration. We were equally delighted to welcome the Class of 1975, along with earlier cohorts, into our Alumni Golden Circle at our annual Golden Circle High Tea, honouring more than 50 years of connection to Tintern.
Another standout moment was Tintern’s first-ever victory at the Annual Interschool Alumni Golf Day – a milestone achievement after 95 years of competition and a wonderful celebration for our TOGA golfers.
We also recognised many remarkable Alumni achievements this year, headlined by Valma (Noel) Pink OAM (Class of 1951), honoured in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours for her groundbreaking contributions to emergency nursing and the development of Australia’s first formal triage system.
Alongside moments of celebration, we also paused to acknowledge and honour Alumni and former staff who have passed away during the year, holding their families and friends in our thoughts.
Looking ahead, preparations for Tintern’s 150th anniversary in 2027 are gaining momentum. With major events such as an all-Alumni Reunion Festival, Gala Ball, Tintern Fair, Giving Day and intergenerational celebrations planned, it promises to be a milestone year that brings our community together in meaningful ways.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Alumni community throughout 2025 – by attending events, volunteering time, sharing their story, or simply staying connected. Your involvement enriches Tintern’s story in ways large and small.
I look forward to connecting with many of you in 2026 as we continue building towards this exciting anniversary chapter.
Wishing you a wonderful festive season and a prosperous new year!
