Caitlin Spears graduated from Tintern Grammar in 2011, a passionate performer, she was the School Choral Captain. Heavily involved with the Tintern music and drama scene, she was a lead in many a school musical, as well as a passionate promotor of the importance of the arts to education. She could often be heard singing on the school grounds, as well as for many of Tintern’s music nights. Caitlin credits the huge ongoing support of the fantastic music and drama staff at Tintern, in encouraging her to pursue her dream of performing professionally. After high school she was accepted to study performance at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts gaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre).
Since graduating VCA she has gone on to perform in musicals, operas and plays all over the world! Her professional credits include creating the title role of Clarice in Women in War, A Contemporary Opera which toured both Greece and Australia. Other theatre credits include Brigadoon (The Production Company), Much Ado About Nothing and Romeo and Juliet (Australian International Opera Company China Tour 2017), The Night Before Christmas, Rolling Thunder Vietnam (Blake Entertainment Australian Tour 2016) Rossini’s La Cenerentola, The Girlie Show, Harvey Milk, the Opera, Nine, Li’l Abner, A Little Touch of Chaos, and short films such as Caution (self-wrote), I’ll Do Anything, RUSE, Paradox Pizza.
Ever eager to expand her skills, Caitlin also turned her talents to writing and producing. She co-wrote and performed the title role of Amanda in Cactus and the Mime (Melbourne Fringe Tour Ready WINNER, Best Performance Nominee) which toured nationally and the title role in Purgastory (Melbourne Fringe Best Performance Nominee). Coming off the back of these critical triumphs Caitlin has recently founded her own production company SPEARS ENTERTAINMENT, an Independent Theatre and Arts company based in Melbourne. Committed to producing exciting, and poignant work, providing audiences with experiences that will make them, laugh, cry and think. They have just announced their 2019 season ‘Everything’s Coming Up Sondheim’, The musical theatre concert based on the music of Stephen Sondheim (West Side Story, Sweeney Todd) directed by industry heavy-weights Tyran Parke and Stephen Gray, the show is playing at Chapel off Chapel in August.
